Do You Talk to Your Inner Voice? My Experience with Bella Lively (Jess Lively)

What is the inner voice? How can we access it? And can we trust what it tells us? Learn how to use your inner voice of intuition to help you make small decisions and answer your biggest questions. This episode includes resources, rituals, and inspiration for tapping into the wisdom within.

What is the Inner Voice of Intuition?

I’ve received a lot of questions and interest from you on this topic, especially after I shared this video about a recent inner voice session I had with Inner Voice Facilitator, Nicole Perkins.

Your inner voice, or intuition, is a powerful resource that’s available to you at all times. It can help with big decisions in life, but it can also support you through the tiny choices you make every day. Your inner voice is separate from your mind's chatter or outside influences, your inner voice is a deep sense of knowing.

Where Does Your Inner Voice Come From?

Your inner voice comes from deep within you. I find it easiest to connect with my inner voice when I’m centered in my body, eyes closed, and exhaling deeply whenever distraction or thoughts bubble up. You can connect to your inner voice in a variety of ways. Some include:

Can Everyone Hear Their Inner Voice?

In this episode I talk about what it feels like when I connect with my inner voice. I also talk about why, when, and where you might want to connect with yours.

Your inner voice might come through as single words, phrases, or sentences. You might see images or a scene playing out. Or you could just get a deep sense of knowing without words or images.

When I Met Bella Lively (Jess Lively) on The Lively Show

Bella Lively (Jess Lively) is the host of The Lively Show podcast and the creator of Inner Voice Facilitator Training. Over the past ten years, I’ve flowed in and out of her teachings, finding inspiration and guidance through her podcast and courses.

Here’s a fun fact from way back! I was featured on her blog in 2009 for her Design Your Life Series. In that post, Bella (Jess) wrote about me, “I feel like Kaileen and I might even somehow be cousins on some weird “life purpose” level. Reading her intentions, topics, and perspectives was like hearing an echo of my own thoughts.” Pretty incredible, right?

And there’s also this little gem. I wrote this about inner voice, even though I didn’t know to call it that back then, “Deep in the center of our soul there is a voice that guides us… it shines light on confusing circumstances and helps us see things as they really are, rather than as they seem to be.”

In January 2019, my friend Chelsea and I went on a girls’ trip to Pittsburgh because Bella (Jess) was doing a live taping of her podcast-turned-TV show. I was selected as the first person to take the stage and talk to my inner voice with her facilitating the process.

My main question was about finding peace and presence in the everyday chaos of motherhood. This main takeaway has stayed with me ever since: we are not here to be the calm, zenned-out, easy breezy versions of ourselves 24/7. In fact, that would be a very boring existence.

3-Card Tarot Spread for Connecting to Your Inner Voice

  • Get centered. Take a few deep breaths to connect with the quiet wisdom within.

  • Select your deck of choice.

  • Shuffle the cards, inviting guidance and wisdom to you.

  • Fan the cards out on the floor or surface in front of you.

  • Allow yourself to be guided to selecting three cards: one for wisdom from your mind, one for wisdom from your inner voice, and one for wisdom from your spirit guides.

  • Flip the cards over one by one and reflect on how each card applies to you and your life.

If you’re new to working with card decks, here’s a great resource to get started. I have found mantra, oracle, and tarot decks to be such a supportive practice for me on my journey.

Is Inner Voice Work Similar to Channeling?

Thank you to Ashley, a member of our community, for sending in some great questions about the inner voice! In this episode, I give my opinion on if inner voice work is similar to channeling and I also share if my inner voice has revealed completely new information vs. telling me things I already know.
